Ownership

One name, a dozen buildings, and only one of them in Queens

Searching the name of this casino returns results from at least six countries, because Resorts World is a group brand applied to venues in Nevada, upstate New York, Malaysia, Singapore, the Bahamas and England among others. That is a genuine problem for anyone trying to find out about the Queens property specifically: prices, rules, ages and even legal categories differ completely between them, and a page about one is close to useless for another. This page sets out who owns the Queens venue, how it came to hold the site, and the quickest ways to tell whether the page in front of you is about this building or a different one on the other side of the world.

The corporate chain, and the disambiguation

Corporate facts here come from the encyclopaedic record retrieved on 25 August 2026. We have not examined any filings and do not quote financial figures for the property itself.

🏒

A Malaysian listed group

The Queens casino is owned and operated by Genting Malaysia Berhad, which is listed in Kuala Lumpur and is part of the wider Genting group founded in 1965. The same subsidiary is recorded as operating venues in Malaysia, England and the Bahamas.

πŸ’΅

It won the site with a cash bid

New York accepted Genting's upfront licensing fee bid of 380 million dollars in August 2010, about 55 million above the nearest competitor, after two earlier operator selections collapsed. The casino opened fourteen months later.

The land is leased from the state

About 72.6 acres of the 172-acre Aqueduct site are leased to the casino and hotel by the New York State Franchise Oversight Board. The operator is a tenant on public racing land rather than the owner of its parcel.

Three affiliates share the rewards card

The membership terms published on 25 August 2026 name Resorts World Catskills, Resorts World Hudson Valley and Resorts World Bimini as affiliated properties within the same programme. Other venues carrying the name are not listed there and should not be assumed to be equivalent.

Questions people put into search

Who owns Resorts World Casino New York City?

Genting Malaysia Berhad, a company listed on the Malaysian stock exchange and part of the Genting group, which was founded in 1965 and is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur. The public record lists the same subsidiary as the operator of Resorts World Genting in Malaysia, more than forty casinos in the United Kingdom including Resorts World Birmingham, and Resorts World Bimini in the Bahamas. Ownership of every other property carrying the name is not something we have checked, and we make no claim about it.

Is this the same as Resorts World Las Vegas or Resorts World Catskills?

No. They are separate venues in separate jurisdictions with separate rules, and a page about one tells you very little about another. The Catskills property is in upstate New York and appears alongside Resorts World Hudson Valley and Resorts World Bimini in the Queens venue's published rewards terms as an affiliate, which is the clearest documented relationship we found. For the Las Vegas property and others outside that list we did not verify the corporate structure and deliberately say nothing about it.

How do I tell which Resorts World a page is about?

Look for the borough. Pages about the Queens venue mention Jamaica, Rockaway Boulevard, Aqueduct, Queens or the A train; pages about other properties will name a different city or country. The second tell is the age rule and the legal framing β€” this venue publishes 21 and describes a New York State licence granted in December 2025. If a page names neither a location nor a regulator, it is unlikely to be worth reading about any of them.

What is the expansion, and is it built?

It is not built. Construction began in July 2026 on the former racetrack land after the licence was granted the previous December. Beyond that, the figures in circulation disagree: the operator's own page describes a five and a half billion dollar development with 6,000 machines, 800 tables, 2,000 rooms and a 7,000-seat arena, while the encyclopaedic account gives five billion dollars, a 350,000 square foot casino and 1,600 additional rooms. We show both rather than averaging them, because a proposal is not a measurement.
